Event: Australian Grand Prix 2018

The 2018 Formula 1 Circus kicked off in Melbourne this weekend. While the action on the track has been overwhelmingly covered, here's a look at some of the cool, quirky and interesting stuff happening not-on-the track.

Porsche 935 K3

Porsche dominated proceedings with the highlight being this Aussie GT 935 K3 raced and owned by Rusty French. Killer car and livery, probably the highlight of the event for us. Loved also seeing all the oil on the white floor stands once the cars were moved later.

Autoreligion created a tribute to the winner of the 1982 24 hour Spa-Francorchamps race with this E28 M535i. The livery was custom-made paying homage to the BASTOS-Juma race team car although slightly changed to fit on the later model 1985 car. The number count of people yelling 'BASTOS!' as we drove the car around is up to about 120.

BMW 2002 Tii Touring

The coolest of the BMWs went to this uber-rare 2002-tii Touring in orange. Tourings are all the rage, and this one was perfectly impractical with 2 doors and hardly any space.

Fender cutting is normally a no-no for us. With exception for RWB. Impossible to take a bad shot of this car, and probably impossible to drive out of the Circuit Park's undulating grassy knolls. It would be a fantastic street sweeper, and it's also one hell of a car.

A few more shots are on @NYCars , let us know what you liked out there.
